Dear James,
Our recent 5-year review of the Division
recommended that we undertake a review of the
Division’s Constitution and Domain Statement to
ensure whether these are up-to-date with current
Academy of Management practices or possibly
require change to improve upon current practices.
I am pleased to have had the opportunity to work
with members of the Division, Officers, and Executive
Committee members to propose revisions to our
Constitution. Clic
k here to see the proposed revised constitution as
well as the current version in use. I will
summarize the proposed changes in the
text of this e-mail to facilitate your comparison of
both versions.
Proposed Changes (references to revised version):
- Article IV: Recognizes the role of the
Professional Development Workshop Chair (previously,
referred to as Program Chair-Elect) as the first
officer role in the five-year sequence.
- Article IV, Section 6: Explicit statement of
criteria to be considered when assembling reviewer
panels to evaluate conference submissions.
- Article V, Section 2: More explicit criteria for
nomination process for Professional Development
Workshop Chair and Executive Committee member
- Article V, Section 5: More explicit criteria for
installing individuals into unexpected officer
vacancies or executive committee vacancies.
- Article VI, Section 1: List of current standing HR
Division committees.
Please send comments to me no later than July 25
(martocch@uiuc.edu
) that indicate any objections you may have and
the reasons.
Following the provisions of the current constitution,
we will ratify the amended constitution by majority
vote of HR Division members who attend the Business
meeting in Atlanta, Tuesday, 5:45 HR Business
meeting - Hyatt Hanover B - Exhibit level.
Thanks very much for your time, and I look forward
to seeing you in Atlanta.
