Message from the HR Division Chair
I hope all of you are having a good spring and looking
forward to a productive summer season! Of course,
please be sure to include the HR Division program at
the annual meetings in Philadelphia, starting with
PDW activities on Friday, August 3 and scholarly
program on Sunday, August 5. PDW Chair Howard
Klein and Scholarly Program Chair Sandy Wayne have
mobilized the masses to put together innovative
sessions for you. By now, you've reviewed the
conference program and probably are having a
challenge choosing between the many excellent
sessions.
In August, I will be handing over the Division reigns to
John Hollenbeck who will become Division Chair.
Thanks to the dedication of so many members, the
HR Division is doing quite well. We continue to see
an increase in membership - more than 3,300 in all,
representing a sharp increase from about 2,600
members in 2003 when I was elected to the
leadership track. We are fiscally sound thanks to the
careful planning of officers and committee chairs and
the very generous support of many sponsors.
I encourage all of you to remain active in the Division.
Check out our website (http://www.hrdiv.org), volunteer
for a committee, submit a proposal for the PDW
program, one or more paper or symposium
proposals, and help out with the review of
submissions. Even though I've got one last official
year as an officer ahead of me - Past Division Chair -
I plan to continue as an active contributor to the
Division for many years to come.
Please join us in Philadelphia.
Best wishes for a great summer!

HR Division @ Philadelphia
Come to Philadelphia! The HR Division¡¦s program
consists of a broad range of sessions and many
opportunities for networking with colleagues. There is
something for everyone who has an interest in human
resource management. Specifically, the program
consists of:
- 35 symposia that are either sponsored or
co-sponsored by the HR division.
There are 12 interactive papers that are
part of the program. These papers are unique, novel
contributions that can generate discussion and thus
are presented in a format conducive to that.
- There are two visual paper sessions
whereby authors summarize their research on
posters and attendees can ask follow up questions of
the authors.
- The HR Division has 28 regular paper
sessions where papers are grouped together based
on a common theme. Authors, Session Chairs, and
Discussants participate in the regular paper
sessions.
In addition to the paper sessions, please
plan to attend one or more of the HR Division¡¦s
events
listed below. These events provide members the
