Is the study of human resources management facing a legitimacy crisis in business school curricula?

MBA students generally rank human resource management courses last in terms of perceptions of importance to the business school curriculum. Yet MBAs who have been out of school five years frequently say they wish they had taken fewer finance courses and more people- oriented courses.

The purpose of this symposium is twofold. First, we expect to generate discussion regarding the relevance and value of managerial education in human resources by engaging business school deans in a panel discussion of the significance of courses in Human Resources Management in business school curriculum at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Second, our panelists of Deans will discuss how human resources management educators might improve student perceptions of the relevance and importance of human resource management in business school curricula.

Join us for this symposium on Tuesday 10:30- 11:50 in the Hyatt - Hanover B.
