HR Division Call for Papers

|
The Academy of Management and its divisions and interest
groups are calling for submissions (papers, symposia, and
Professional Development Workshops (PDW) proposals) for the 2010 AOM
Annual Meeting, August 6-10, Montreal, Canada. The submission
deadline is January
14, 2010 at 5:00 PM EST (New York Time). Click here for more information.
The HR Division encourages submissions that are innovative in terms
of format and/or content. Specifically, the Division is interested in
submissions that pertain to HR-related research, teaching, and
service activities. Recent data suggests that submission rates of
members of the HR division are somewhat below other divisions (as a
percentage of membership). You should be aware that more submissions
to the HR Division would mean more program space and that doing so
does not decrease your chances of acceptance. This occurs because the
number of sessions is a function of the number of proposals submitted
per division. So submit early and submit often!
As always, we encourage submissions that are consistent
with the Division's on-going concern with bridging the
science/practice gap or the conference theme: "Dare to Care:
Passion and Compassion in Management". The Special Theme Call
for Papers can be downloaded here.

HR Division Call for Reviewers
|
The
HR Division is recruiting scholarly program reviewers for the 2010
Academy of Management Annual Meeting. Please consider signing up as a
reviewer if you have not already done so. Being a reviewer for the
Annual Meeting is a great way to be involved in the HR Division, be a
part of the Academy's scholarly program, and provide visibility for
yourself and your institution. Even if you have reviewed in the past,
you still need to re-sign up to review for the 2010 Academy of
Management Meeting. This occurs because your "areas of
expertise" or keywords are now outdated, as the number of
keyword options have been expanded and some of the options have been
replaced.
By Academy rule, a Division cannot send more than 3
papers to a reviewer (unless you also agree to be an
"emergency" reviewer). The result is a manageable workload
for reviewers but it also means the HR Division needs a lot of
reviewers. We need YOU! The review period is from January 14, 2010 to
February 12, 2010 (review deadline). Please check your schedule to
make sure you will be able to review during this time frame before
signing up. To sign up, please visit http://review.aomonline.org/
and click the "Sign Up Now" button. Be sure to select the
HR Division when indicating your preferences. The signup process is
fast and easy and should not take longer than 5 minutes.
Thank you for considering this request for your time and expertise!
Your 2010 HR Division Program Chair, Murray Barrick (Texas A&M
University), mbarrick@mays.tamu.edu.
