Professional Development Workshops
|
The Human Resources Division will be sponsoring or
co-sponsoring nearly 50 interesting and innovative sessions in
Montreal. These PDWs represent a mix of development opportunities
focused on HR research, teaching, and practice. For example, in the
session "Application of Multi-level Models"
(Saturday, Aug 7 2010 12:00PM - 3:00PM at Le Centre Sheraton in Salon
B) leading experts will discuss and demonstrate the application of
multi-level models to HR situations, questions, and problems. The
session will provide a general introduction to multi-level models,
discuss the application of these models to typical questions arising
in HR research, and conclude with Q&A and small group discussion.
Several of the HR PDWs will have a strong international focus
including the sessions: "Comparative Human Resource
Management - Current Status and Future Developments" (Saturday,
Aug 7 2010 10:45AM - 1:45PM at Le Centre Sheraton in Hemon) and "The
Global Downturn: Emerging HR Best Practices and Capabilities" (Friday,
Aug 6 2010 8:30AM - 11:30AM at Le Centre Sheraton in Lamartine).
These sessions will offer participants the opportunity to discuss
ways of advancing theoretical, empirical and practical knowledge of
emerging international HR issues.

Paper Sessions and Symposia
|
HR Program Overview
The HR
Division has a total of 94 paper sessions and symposia on the program
reflecting the full range of HR topic and issues. There are six paper
presentation formats, several of which are new to the program this
year. These formats differ only in the means by which papers are
shared:
- 48 divisional and co-sponsored symposia of differing
formats as determined by the submitters
- 18 traditional paper sessions in which groups of authors
make oral presentations on a common topic with a session chair
and discussant.
- 7 cross-divisional paper sessions which will consist of
papers on topics that span the domains of multiple divisions.
These sessions will give attendees the opportunity to discuss
the papers from multiple perspectives.
- 4 discussion paper sessions consisting of papers that,
with refinement, have the potential to break new ground or make
important contributions. Authors will discuss and explore areas
for further development with a discussant and others who share
similar research interests.
- 17 division roundtable paper sessions consisting of
papers with a common theme that will draw a more focused
audience. Authors will present their work, and then engage in a
more intimate discussion with attendees.
We invite you to explore the conference program
for a complete listing of these sessions.
