Convention awards
The first two awards below are chosen from those papers selected for the annual Academy meeting; the third award recipient is chosen from the reviewers for the HR Division program for the current year. No nominations are solicited for these three awards, but you are encouraged to self-identify in your Academy submission if you are eligible for the student award.
The Best Student Convention Paper Award is given to the student who authors (i.e., is the first author on) the best paper accepted by the Program Committee for the annual conference. To be eligible for this award, an individual must still be a student (i.e., still located at the institution at which he or she did graduate work) at the time the paper is submitted to the award committee, and this status should be made clear in the Academy submission (see Call for Papers for further details). The recipient of the award will receive a $500 honorarium.
The Best Convention Paper Award is given to the author(s) of the best paper accepted by the Program Committee for the annual conference. Student papers are also eligible for the Best Convention Paper award.
The convention awards are based on the following criteria:
- The significance and importance of the problem to human resources
- The extent to which the design, findings, or orientation advances research or theory.
For both of these conference awards, the awards committee will evaluate several of the highest rated qualifying papers (i.e., papers that received the highest average ratings by conference reviewers) to determine the winners.
