Are you "Connected"?
The HR Division is excited to be a part of AOM Connect. AOM Connect is the Academy of Management's online community.
Whether you were "wired from birth" or a nomad in the digital age, AOM Connect has much to offer. For example, HR Division
members have posted course syllabi to share with peers, universities have posted job openings, groups with common interests
have created communities on AOM Connect (such as HR Doctoral Consortium Alumni, Blogging Management Scholars, e-learning,
and e-Media in AOM). Post events to the calendar, post questions for review, discuss research, provide insight to those with
questions, post audio and video to the media gallery, or post interesting external web links. Join the HR Division and your colleagues on
AOM Connect.
While you're there, be sure to check out interviews
with recent winners of the HR Division's Scholarly Acheivement Award.
ABOUT THE DIVISION
The Human Resources (HR) Division within the Academy of Management is dedicated to a better understanding of how work organizations can perform more effectively by better management of their human resources. That is, we are interested in understanding, identifying, and improving the effectiveness of HR practices (whether in the U.S. or in other countries) in the various functions and activities carried out as part of HR, and determining the optimal fit between these practices and organizational strategies, cultures, and performance. Major topics include acquisition, allocation, development, utilization, maintenance, and evaluation of humans as resources in work organizations. The emphasis is on the study of the employment relationship at the individual, group, organizational, societal, and cross-cultural levels of analysis, and the impact of this relationship on outcomes critical to the organization and its applicants, both present and past employees, and their representatives.
As one of the Academy of Management's largest divisions with over 3500 members, we serve as a gathering place for academics and practitioners to create networks aimed at discovering and disseminated state-of-the-art HR knowledge.
